Still need the guys from "Raid on Entebbe", "Shaka Zulu", and "Devils Double". So, more cargo for this fast moving train! Scott.

As a matter of interest, Charles Durning was a 100% bona fide D-Day vet. He fought his way off the beach and earned himself both Silver and Bronze Stars as well as a CIB.

Spencer Tracy as Major Robert Rogers in "Northwest Passage". Apparently there is no known authentic portrait of Maj. Roberts, so any image of him is purely speculative.

Lt. Col. Harold G. Moore as portrayed by Mel Gibson in the 2002 film "We Were Soldiers"

Just out of curiosity why does Gibson have 7th cav and Moore have 3rd Cav?

When the 1st Cavalry Division deployed to Vietnam in July 1965, Hal Moore was a lieutenant Colonel in command of the 1st Battalion 7th Cavalry. This is how he was depicted in "We Were Soldiers". Later in his tour he was promoted to full colonel and put in command of the division's 3rd Brigade.

Without a doubt, Audie Murphy as Audie Murphy is going to be tough to beat in To Hell and Back

Richard Todd in second as he certainly had lived the part in The Longest Day

Time to refresh this fun topic.

An uncredited actor plays General MacArthur in MASH's episode Big Mac, funny ending for those who seen this.

* As a reminder for new or new-er members who want to post images, please do a topic search to see if that actor playing a historical charactor has already been posted, not the historical charactor mind you, just the actor, we can see as many differant actors playing a historical charactor as we what, like the many we seen thus far playing Winston Churchill.

MASADA 1981

Peter O'Toole as General Lucius Flavius Silva and Peter Strauss as his antagonist the Zealot leader Eleazar Ben Yair (no historical image exists for Eleazer Ben Yair, mainly because it is obviously against Jewish Law for making images etc, not sure any Romans made one of him either).

William Devane as JFK in the 1974 Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation, The Missles of October.

Martin Sheen as RFK, Sheen also played JFK in a mini series in 1983, didn't see that one, but his performance of RFK in Missles of October was fabulous.
