For the Liberation Festivities on the 5th of May I shot how the Signal Photographic Company photographers shot film during the War: With Pack Film in their cameras! A few years back I was given this pack of Tri-X film by a friend who had hoarded a large supply of film from a camera shop that went under. I always assumed it was a box with loose sheet film, until I opened up the light proof envelope and felt the metallic housing of the pack last week. And then I had to go dig through the stash of obsolete camera gear to pull out an adapter for it. Now, know that this stuff has been extinct since the early 90s and the pack itself had expired 1981! I have never dealt with pack film before and I felt this was a bit of a personal mile stone in my living history career. Like driving in a jeep for the first time 😅 I over-exposed the film a bit, to off set the effect of the aging. And cosmic radiation would've caused fog on the film regardless. But as I pulled the first set of negatives from the tank, I was actually surprised (and somewhat relieved) that there were any images on it at all. The density of the negatives is pretty thick, so I'll tweak the developing process a little more for the remainder. Then I'll scan and share some of them, once I've finished developing the entire pack. Fun! Fun! Fun! -

. Hi Kevin, Thanks for posting some VE Day memorabilia, here is a song by Vera Lynn which I believe topped the charts in both the UK & USA Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, May 08 2O25. ( COMMEMORATING VICTORY IN EUROPE DAY ) …. -

. Hi earlymb. Nice to see that you have already made a start on collecting / changing TO Ford marked parts 🤣 🤣 🤣. Historically you can keep the Willys chassis and it just leaves you with a few more parts to change to Ford, think of all the fun you can have like Johan and myself searching for all the Ford marked parts. Here's a few original NOS tie-rod ends I pulled together a few years ago, yours and mine are identically stamped except I see a ' C ' on yours and mine are marked ' B '. Norman D. Here's another 'Turtle' insignia design from WWII that I'm currently researching. I'm hoping to locate WWII era images depicting this image in actual use; printed material, signage, etc. A photo of this design affixed to the side of a battalion vehicle would be outstanding. RW -

You may want to double check on the Ft. Meade Museum. It's been closed for a while now. -

Thanks Wake, this would make more sense based on the design imagery. I'll look into this unit more thoroughly and see if I can come up with some examples of this emblem in actual use. RW -
