Hey everyone, I recently got a M37 wool shirt and pants for my first impression and while the neck and waist fit perfectly, the shirt tends to puff up quite a bit after getting tucked in and the pant legs are (expectantly) large. I understand that these are meant to have a loose fit, but I can’t help to feel that they could be slimmed a tiny bit on my end. This is probably a silly question, but would it be historically appropriate to have combat uniforms tailored for better fit? Would it be better just to leave them alone asides from maybe shortening the sleeves/pant legs? Any help would be appreciated.

VNAMVET70- It could have been repainted, have seen it before. But, if you look at the pommel, one of the pins, maybe both are not painted black. When Camillus produced these, and the were oiled, they turned a beautiful blue-black finish. The best way to tell if pained is scratch the guard or pommel w/ a finger nail, to see if the paint comes off. Just a light scratch.  SKIP

This one sold early  - not surprising - watch for these coming soon to eBay - or hopefully an actual collector bought it ...

Regarding the "angles" It is likely that the vet never noticed it either. The family did not seem to notice the mispelling of the last name on the Purple Heart and when I told them they seemed a bit taken aback. They had another buyer who then backed out after they informed him. Seems like the family never mentioned it. Perhaps they are all dyxlexic like me!   When I was assigned as an aeroscout pilot to the 11th ACR in 1983, I took my wife to an officer's Friday informal social. I introduced her to a fellow officer, a Captain, I being a 2nd LT at the time. She zoomed right in on his pilot's red/white "cALvary" nametag and asked him if he was a Baptist. He said, "no a Catholic, why? " She said," well, your name tag says CALvary!" He was so embarrased that he took the velcro nametag off and stuck it in his pocket. He had been wearing that name tag for nearly 3 years an NO ONE ever commented on the spelling which should have been CAValry!  SO hell's Angles or Hell's Angels!

. From my shoebox collection.   I have had this USN jumper some years and unable to find any reason for the strange colouring of the patch, if anyone can, please jump in, comparison of standard patch shown,  is it just a manufacturing fault or something else.  Thanks           Norman D. You are lucky. When I look in the mirror first thing in the mornings, I usually see Frankenstein’s monster looking back at me.
