My dad was stationed at Camp Gordon in the very early 50s, just before the Korean War broke out. I've attached two pictures, one of my dad (on the left) and a close up of the phone directory, which is in the upper left corner of the larger picture. -

It would be a pity to ruin a good liner, so sacrificing a euro clone would be preferable if just a passable “don’t look too close” liner impression is what you want. mikie -

There is your problem. You need to start with a helmet liner that is shaped as close as possible to a Hawley as you can get. And a European clone ain’t it. The Hawley liner was shaped almost identical to the McCord pots. However I admire your effort and have enjoyed watching the progress. You are to be commended for your efforts. -

These badges were used post 1 December 1941, the date when the War Department transferred fire department, post utilities, construction, etc from the Quartermaster to the Corps of Engineers. I had two badges, one from Camp Haan, CA, and Camp Robinson, AR, both were stamped "QMC". -

As issued the M-44 straps say M-44 on the strap as do the M-45 straps. The systems were made to use those straps. I'm not sure why yours has medical straps. -

Jerry, I'm not sure about the rattle can stripes. It seems to me those were brushed on. That whole rig looks like new paint to me. Lead test the paint. -

The OD3 khaki straps appear to be WWII Litter Straps. Medical Department Item 9708000 and commonly attached to the expandable Army medic pouches when worn individually. https://www.med-dept.com/articles/medical-kits-contents-kits-of-medical-personnel/
