Had a similar 2nd Division 23rd Inf uniform that was stored in a corn crib for decades. It had moth and mouse damage. Having the helmet and gasmask bag I eventually removed the patch, collar discs, ribbons. Even removed the buttons and had to throw away the jacket. It was to far gone. I did save the oversea cap and placed the insignias in a Riker mount. I had cut around the patches to remove them. -

One of our volunteers brought in this yearbook from Camp Knox that a relative had given him...it appears each camp produced it's own yearbook; some of the names I've seen appear as if not much thought was given to the title. This example is in great shape and folded in the pages was his Red Cross certificate as well as his graduation certificate for that summer. Mark sends -

My dad was stationed at Camp Gordon in the very early 50s, just before the Korean War broke out. I've attached two pictures, one of my dad (on the left) and a close up of the phone directory, which is in the upper left corner of the larger picture. -

It would be a pity to ruin a good liner, so sacrificing a euro clone would be preferable if just a passable “don’t look too close” liner impression is what you want. mikie -

There is your problem. You need to start with a helmet liner that is shaped as close as possible to a Hawley as you can get. And a European clone ain’t it. The Hawley liner was shaped almost identical to the McCord pots. However I admire your effort and have enjoyed watching the progress. You are to be commended for your efforts. -

These badges were used post 1 December 1941, the date when the War Department transferred fire department, post utilities, construction, etc from the Quartermaster to the Corps of Engineers. I had two badges, one from Camp Haan, CA, and Camp Robinson, AR, both were stamped "QMC". -
