Just bought a few things from Donna at Wosk Militaria and the transaction was smooth as silk and the communication was awesome!  I would highly recommend, as she gains enough posts to put items from her late fathers store on here to liquidate, that you do business with her.  The "Old/New stock items" that I bought were perfect and better than I ever expected!  She is top notch, and sitting on some real gems left in their inventory from the days that the, now famous, Harry Wosk, owned and operated his store.  These items are like a time travel item, and am sure many on here have seen the famous price tags/inventory codes on old items like patches/pins/badges/etc.  Well, I can tell you that these are not a myth but are there and are the real deal!  I purchased a few jump wings from her and what she sent me was literally as nice as the day they were produced and included the old cardboard card they are pinned to.     So if you are thinking about buying from her from their existing stock do NOT HESITATE.  These are great items and truly a time machine back to the 1940's.   Thanks again, Donna.  The wings far exceeded what I had hoped for and best of luck here now that you have found this awesome forum!   Brian D

Here's an unabashed plug for our FB group. "Pilots, Man Your Planes!". Focused on WW2 Naval aviation history and collectibles, it is a great way to learn more on the subject. Tons of photos from the era and of our member's collections as well as educational posts on the subject. Many USMF members have joined since we started in 2022. All are welcome!

Heres the OVD pins (as shown on the collar in post #3 and posted in its internal links) issued on July 4, 1945, to all Organized Volunteer troops after being disbanded.  These two are  currently up for sale in the medal and ribbon section now.  Check them if you're interested.

I have one of what I think to be a very similar stamping.  I believe your example was purposely clipped to prevent the functional use of what was originally intended.  In use, it was oval in shape and background painted or enameled white.  The back had two screw posts.  I was told it was worn at the Regimental Headquarters level.  The Regiment was later known as the 55th Infantry Regiment.  Time period is approximately 1890's to early 1900's.  I observed a complete and finished example at the Forks of the Delaware (Allentown Gun show) a few years ago. I was told by the owner that he obtained it during a clean out of the Hahn Company of Baltimore Maryland.  I have attempted to post a photo but was unsuccessful, so I am forwarding the photo to another forum member to assist in posting it. Without a frontal eyelet, the liner pictured is the final iteration of the M1 helmet liner to use that style of suspension.  It would've been made from 1955-1964.
