Depends on when it was put together. Until, I think, the mid-1980's, subsequent awards of the NDSM was shown by an OLC, at least in the Army. Then it changed to a bronze service star. -

Awesome! Thank you. I'll be sure to get the green ones for my helmets then. Also that's great to know, I'll keep that in mind. -

I get it. Back in the day after you got out there wasn’t anyone or anything to go to for guidance. Now we have the internet to help. -

You can see the signs of a repaint on the rim. If you look closely, there are paint chips in the original finish, then a new coat of paint applied over the chips. The new paint also has a slight gloss finish, which is unlike the WWII finish. Looks like most if the original cork paint is underneath still. -

I’ll be in Australia this week, so I’ll send photos when I’m back. I’m still deciding between a flight suit or the khaki service uniform, it’s supposed to be circa 43/44. -

left is the British Korea Medal (yellow/blue), the middle one you know and right is the British General Service Medal (probably for the Malaya conflict). It was made in the UK. regards Herman -

My previous post was an Avenger gunner. This is an Avenger radioman from VT(N)-90, in 1945.
