You can see the signs of a repaint on the rim. If you look closely, there are paint chips in the original finish, then a new coat of paint applied over the chips. The new paint also has a slight gloss finish, which is unlike the WWII finish. Looks like most if the original cork paint is underneath still. -

I’ll be in Australia this week, so I’ll send photos when I’m back. I’m still deciding between a flight suit or the khaki service uniform, it’s supposed to be circa 43/44. -

left is the British Korea Medal (yellow/blue), the middle one you know and right is the British General Service Medal (probably for the Malaya conflict). It was made in the UK. regards Herman -

Hello and thank you for your acceptance, I am French and I am a reenactor on a GMC CCKW truck, I honor the soldiers who landed and liberated Europe with the French resistance, and I also know and learn about the outfits of the Second World War era. -

Hi, The folks here on the forum range from newbies to longtime experts. Most are more than happy to share their knowledge, so don’t worry about asking “dumb” questions. I’m far from being any kind of expert, but I did research this question myself several years ago. The green buckles were used through most of WWII. Black buckles came late in the war or post war. mikie -
