. Just received these two photos of the GMC tipper taken before it became necessary for my Jeeping friend to sell it due to his ill health.       Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, June 23  2O25.    ….

. . When things become technical and experts become involved . . . . . . .   I just asked my daughter to book me in at the dental practise next week that she works at, I said I had chipped a ' tooth ', she asked for a photo ( which forum readers really don't need to see ),  I duly sent her a photo and she said she has booked me in for a chipped mesiobuccal cusp !!!!!!!!!     sounds like another case of empty wallet surgery again to me !!!!   Norman D. One of my customers is a Gunsmith up near Edinburgh , Scotland and from time to time he gets requests from the police to handle various firearms that they find. Recently this Thompson 1928 A1 turned up in an attic about 10 miles from his place. Apparently the recently deceased owner had carried it during the assault on Cherbourg according to some notes that were in the property. He is going to arrange to get a copy of them to see what the back story is to this piece. It's fully working and will be cleaned, checked, proof tested and then will go into an auction house for disposal overseas as a still live fully operational piece.

      . Fabulous photo   . . . . . . . brings back fond memories of our early 70's off-roading days, before Jeeps became ' collectable ' vehicles.       Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, June 23  2O25.    ….

Hi ya guys! l'm looking for WW II U.S. Navy model DAG-1 portable radio direction finder,to complete my Radio Set. If you happen to have one you'd be willing to sell, or if you know (or even think you know) of one that is (or might be) for sale, please let me know. I'm willing to pay a fair market price (depending on condition and completeness), so I'm not asking for something for nothing. Happy collecting

Enlistedmen were issued the standard QM brass device and numbers / letters. Officers purchased embroidered insignia typically on wool felt backing from commercial uniform suppliers. Also, the practice of soldering the insignia together did not really pick up until the end of the 1870's. In the mid 1870's usually just the device or company letter or sometimes both were separately attached to the cap.

The division recon troop was mechanized.  As an aside, I suspect that the 1st Cavalry division's I&R platoons were actually at the brigade level.

I think I hit a bit excited before I actually considered how rare it would be, I was just so excited to congratulate him on his find! Then reality hit once I started seeing the posts about the rust and I was like,”well yah, I see it now.” It’s always to good to be true.

Tagt’s pretty cool. My next endeavor will be designing. 3D printable one. I plan on scanning an original then dropping the scan in solid works and modeling and smoothing out the shape then I’ll turn it into an DTL file ready for printing. Plan to experiment with not covering them in fabric and working on nail lay just making a full plastic one Tagt’s more durable.

The helmets are obviously made of steel and have a specific paint-bondo might not adhere well to the finish and eventually make cracking or chipping over time. Maybe try metal filler or epoxy putty? Keep in mind I am in no way an expert on this subject and my advice might not work out. Anyways, I hope you find a way to fix your problem!
