I bought the “perma press” fatigues at the Ft Dix PX in 1979 while still an ROTC cadet.  Bought a set of very used  OG 107 fatigues soon after arriving at Ft Hood in 1980.  They were a bit faded and looked great when starched like a board.  But, as stated above, would never mix and match the two types.  Would have looked terrible.   And then the Elvis BDU’s came along in 1982, so I never wore the OD fatigues again.  Those first issue BDU’s were SO hot in the Texas summer.  And, the sun and washing turned the black portion of the camo to a shade of purple.  Looked terrible.    I should add I wore the same fatigue “baseball”  cap with both the OG 107 fatigues and the newer “perma press” type.

For reference.   A large / broad shield pattern Dallas wing sold at auction (CNY Militaria & Collectibles) today for $2600. Attached are several screenshots.  I tried to add the link to the auction, but was unsuccessful.

It definitely pays to shop around. Here is a bog standard WWII to immediately post-War Air Raid Warden armband along with a pamphlet:     The armband alone should sell for $10 to $20, max; while the pamphlet alone is in the $5 to $10 range. A seller on eBay is offering the set of two for an astonishing $200 plus $9.99 shipping. Don’t get burned, shop around!

I would not use the term "almost all" officially engraved Army Purple Hearts were awarded to KIAs. I would use the term "large percentage".   Many were awarded to Army WIAs and wounded POWs. They are not at all rare.   You could say almost all Navy and Marine Corps WIA Purple Hearts were issued unnamed. There are exceptions here too.   I have Army non-fatal officially named Purple Hearts in my collection.     W

thanks, I may cancel this if possible then. It was listed as wwii and the collar brass was the main reason I wanted it but now I know. I knew the flat back clutches were wwii. But I’m guessing someone stuck those on post wwii brass. Not sure I can rationalize $700 if only the other items are war time. What year did they start moving the numbers to the top of the bar instead of on front? If they were right after the war I may choose to live with it but at this time I think I’m going to save my money for a wwii group.
