Im a retired Navy CPO. I did 20 years working on A-6s and F-14s. I was on flight decks for most of that 20 years.   The situation I described was a daily occurrence at sea.    ATC(AW) ret. 1981-2001.

We don't know if it's authentic, but it could be a flag "made at the theater".   Look at the words "【東條　英機】Hideki-Tojo" at the bottom right.   This means that there's a good chance that this is either an incredible treasure, or a fake using the name of a famous person :-)

Hi Kaleb, I have a lot of maps (among them about 300 relating to the Normandy campaign), but although this one looks vaguely familiar (probably just because of the content, which is the kind of information reproduced on many maps relating to Allied air operations before and on 6 June 1944), I can't place it.   The single vertical fold line (with image facing out) means that the rather unusual indent will appear top left on the folded map.  This suggests to me that the map may have come with some sort of official report, with a staple holding the pages together but the map able to be removed.  To my eye, this indent is the single most unusual feature of the sheet.   I assume you mean Geographicus New York?  High-end dealer with prices to match - but they attend the global map fairs (I was taking to Kevin at the London Map Fair only a few weeks ago), have staff and premises so they have a lot of costs smaller sellers don't have.  I guess it does mean that they want to buy cheap and sell expensive!  It would be interesting to know what they offered you.   If you really want to sell it, I guess you can take your chances with an eBay auction and see how it goes.  It will undoubtedly sell (I would probably bid) and you might get lucky.  But without knowing where it came from, it is a bit of a lottery.   Another alternative is to consign it through a dealer. I can recommend Curtis Wright, who has an excellent website and I have found to be fair, honest and reasonable.   Of all the general (non-militaria) map dealers, I believe he is the one who has the most sincere and genuine interest in WW2 mapping.   I will dig around and see if I can find out more about where the map may have come from.  It is annoying when there is enough in an image to make it seem familiar, but not enough to place it!   Hopefully others may recognise it and help you too.  Best of luck.
