Does anyone know how old he was? I never met him personally but it sounds like he was fairly young. -

Everforward, I cannot attest how common it was for members of the AEF to not wear patches; however I can say I have handled a group that appears to have never had an SSI ever applied: The officer who this group belonged to was listed as "QMC At Large" on transport records to and from Europe. His WWI officer's uniform shows no signs of any unit patch ever being applied. Hope this helps! Best Regards, -J.D. -

Yes, it was definitely opened before as there is tape residue on container. Also when I reexamined photos here I can see plastic wrap on petroleum jelly tube. I think I'll just open it and check it out since the cherry was already popped so to speak. Thanks for your input. -

Hi. While browsing the forum and learning I spotted this photo of a 13th AF in a different thread which doesn't seem to be on the greenback list yet? -

Hello, I am looking for a copy of the 665th Engineer Topographic Battalion's unit history for 1945. I know that it exists (see a past auction preserved at worthpoint: 665th Engineer Topographic US Army WWII unit history Ohrdruf Concentration Camp | #400807207). Specifically, I am interested to know their route / bases in 1945 in Germany. Does anyone have information about this Battalion? Thank you. Roger -

Thanks, jmd62. Also sort of a rare helmet shield, too. -

That must’ve been incredible to witness—an F-14 going vertical in full afterburner sounds like the definition of “ear-splitting”! I’ve only heard recordings, but I can imagine the chest-thumping roar in person. Totally agree about the C-5 too. It’s not sharp like a fighter jet, but the deep rumble of those turbofans feels like it shakes the ground. Ever heard one taxi by up close? That’s a whole different kind of loud!
