I know that the USMC depot made some 1910 pattern scabbard covers for the long 1905 bayonets. I believe this is 1940 or early WW2. I wondered if anyone has pictures of one of these scabbards and knows anything more about them. -

This is a really great post. I enjoyed reading that letter. I collect correspondence and have a few M1's with a wound history. I have thought about becoming the care taker of a seriously battle damaged helmet but as the member stated a few post's prior, it is a seriously grim task and one that would require the utmost care and respect. -
