Thanks! The fuse is definitely too late for the body. Good catch with the subtle paint difference. It does make more sense that it would be a MkII vs a m21 -

From 1951 to 1953, the division was stationed at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, and trained 30,000 replacements for the Korean War. -

Here is one I bought as a part of a group. Based on an internet search it seems it’s a type II from 1901 to 1909 -

Practice MK2 that was later painted yellow by someone. M21s would have a centered hole, not offset like the MK2 pratice. The color looks close but the paint used isn't right, original paint wasn't "watered down" like that paint on it is and the sheen is wrong as well. It should be dull not shiny like it is. The makers mark is a later lazy S, which were solid bottoms and those were never yellow in the first place. Also the A3 fuze is later as well, but makes no difference on the body as it could have been added later. -

I have seen the Tru-Spec tiger stripes before but never have seen that type of modification before. Interesting variation Arch and thanks for sharing it with us and the extra pic with the elastic loops added to show us what to look for. Thanks! Clete -

I've got a head scratcher in today. Yellow painted MkII grenade with an M10A3 fuse with a chamfered, unthreaded fill hole with yellow paint on the inside diameter of the hole. This might immediately scream "M21 practice grenade that someone painted yellow" but there's not a hint of blue beneath it and there's yellow paint *beneath* the powder charge residue on the inside, suggesting the paint is original. What could this grenade be? The paint is thick and the only foundry marking I could find, which could just be a paint blob, is a sideways S, which is a recognized foundry stamp. a few theories: 1. Someone who had a box full of live fuses took an early unpainted m21, painted it, filled it with homemade powder mix, corked it, then threw it in their back yard 2. factory reject MkII body that never got threaded 3. I haven't read enough books and maybe early practice grenades did come in yellow any insights? -
