      This is one of my Westinghouse M1C liners. The helmet did not have the chin strap so I bought one from Top Pots. Anyone can do this. I used period thread to sew it on, so it would look correct. The snap is machine sewn I just tacked it to the swivel bail. The liner chin strap should have a green flip on it and that is the correct A yoke and chin strap. I think the correct helmet for a as issued M1C is the front or rear seem manganese rim helmet. At the time I modified the helmet I did not have the correct helmet and did this to display it correctly. My other Westinghouse M1C helmets are correct originals. I am still having issues with your helmet. It's hard for me to tell from the photos if that is a period modification.  One of the give a ways is the new chin strap does not show the age, wear and tear of the rest of the webbing.  It looks new, because it is. Your chin strap shows wear, but I don't quite understand why it shows the wear at that location. Normally you see that wear at the bails. That is the place all the rubbing and stress occurs on a chin strap.

      Thanks manky for the comment, Gives me a little hope 😂   buckrum? What is that? I’ve tried steaming it out with an iron which sorta worked, I used mod podge because it was Matt and not rubbery plus it dried quickly. The plus is when you ironed it, it kind melted into the fabric and helped to get some of those wrinkles out. I’m not really happy with the wrinkles, but it’s going to happen, if I ever attempt it again I’ll do some stuff different, but for now it’s good enough. I’m thinking of trying to hide them with my name stenciled on the back.

      I just bought a Scorpion over the weekend and I'm needing parts for it. Haven't gotten it back yet but i know for sure I'll need an engine and cross drive, Dash and steering wheel, traverse mechanism, Front cross drive cover, all the seats, side boxes. I'd be interested in part hulls too. Let me know what you have or if you know where one is located!  Thanks!

      Good afternoon. I have just acquired these whick were found at an old wartime airfield here in Norfolk. I understand they are mapping aids... Can anyone kindly tell me more about them in what context they were used..  Any pics of them in use at a USAAF wartime airfield?  Thanks. Jim

      I’m watching, a good effort. I’m looking at doing the same at some point, I’m considering a different material for the fabric though. I’m thinking along the lines of buckrum as it can be steamed together all of the wrinkles out.

      I have a late war M1C and its a swivel bail. I dont think they were turning out fixed bales that late in the war. And the sewn on chinstraps I believe tell the story on the steel pot. You know what I mean........ someone got creative.... Its a put together with a fake M1C. Someone sewed para chinstraps onto an old fixed bail. And stuck a liner in it.

      I don't know why it flipped whe I posted it. I'll put up a few more pictures to show what the back looks like. It's 5 1/2 inches in length, 2 inches in height.

      I don't mean to step on your post or move it in another direction, but you might find this interesting. I have been to a number of F-100 crash sites in the Mojave. Blackburn's ZEL F-100D was interesting. It was hard to find because its a localized crash site. It is cleaned up, but tid bits are to be found.
