As stated, the one on the left is a post-WW1 carrier for the VB grenade launcher, Army or USMC. It replaced the French wartime pouch that was made of leather. The other is a bolt pouch for the bolt of a rifle when replaced with the Pederson Device. I suppose a pair of wire cutters would fit, but that is not the intended use for the pouch. It's missing a snap hook from the reverse.

Also, is anyone even Intersted in this? Haven’t gotten one reply sadly. I know it happens, but I was hoping this would garner more attention? Maybe people are just waiting for me to finish?  Jsut hope this can possibly be used as resource in the future. If it turns out okay.

Alright all, finally finished the hard part of gluing in the fabric. There was a lot of cursing in the process of making this… So today I woke up and found that all the clips on the back popped off so the back was sorta messed up as you can see and there was bunch of extra material I had to cut off and then lay over so there are 2 minor folds in the back, but there are as few wrinkles as I could get. Today I’m going to try to finish cutting the excess material around the brim and gluing it down. Then I meet do a thin over paint of the fabric because of all those glue patches. Then I need to install the mock rivets which I using thumbtacks for that I’d rolled through the center of the right and glued which really just strengthens it more. After that I need to paint the rivets a dark grayish green color similar to original ale. After that if I have time today I will try to paint the inside and make a replica ink stamp for the G at the crown and the Liner Fiber M1 stamp for ten store if the helmet. Still undecided on which model I intend to make it into, so we’ll see. Wish me luck!

I'm hoping to find an M1926 tunic, two pre-WWII Organized Reserve 103rd Division Patches and two collar discs with the letters "SCS," (Soil Conservation Service).  I'm developing a living history impression of an Organized Reserve CCC Camp Commander in a camp sponsored by the SCS (Camp 836/SCS-6, across a small valley from Fort Stanton, New Mexico)   The pre-war 103rd Division patches have a bright yellow sunset background and saguaro cactus with extended arms, as opposed to WWII and after gold background and compact saguaro.    Thus, I'm asking members of which vendors would be most likely to carry these items, and or that I should periodically check?

I have had several posthumous  medals that came from the families that were misspelled...often very subtly.  Those were presented, but nobody said anything....in one case the family didn't notice until I said something.    Another thing that comes into play, and I have seen a few 442nd groups like this, is the misspelling goes back to what was on the person's birth certificate.  The name on birth certificate is what the military used, and if it was wrong then too bad.  I think if there was racism involved, it was in the 1910's and 1920's when these 442nd guys were born.  And even then, I suspect some of that was due to language barriers and their parent's reverence to authority.  Not dismissing the possibility of racism being a factor, but I don't think it is to sole cause.   A Scandinavian example, one guy's last name was Petersen, but his birth certificate was erroneously Peterson.  However, nobody ever corrected that, so he served in the Army as Peterson...his government grave marker says Peterson too.     Another possibility is there actually is a WIA guy named George R Dorcey....this is a common enough name that there could be.   Lastly, Allan is correct, that most of the misspellings we see are returns or rejects.  However, they all aren't.

Ok wizards. Dazzle me. I think the pouch on the right is for wire cutters, you can almost make out the handle in the dirty outline but the left one is a mystery.  Will hold a 2” cylinder x 10” long.  help me out if you can Tom

Helmet looks re-done to me, the texture is very new and still bunched up and there is no wear to the paint. Still a nice Schlueter 👍

Some more pictures and shots of any markings would be good to see.  mikie
