That's it.  That was one of the details that drew me to it.

No. The washers would not have the green verdigris on them had it been re-webbed. I dont see any evidence on the outside of rivets being removed. If it was put away for a long time there is no reason the webbing would be trashed. What brand liner is it? Inside the crown should have a stamping or raised stamping of who made it.

Movie was released July 1945, don’t know how fast it would have gotten to Attu.

The DOD elementary school for military kids at Fort Benning was named after Don C. Faith— I went there in 6th grade.

And the Jeep-Saga continues! I reported last week that due to 2 bolts of the left front axle bumper having snapped we had no choice but to remove the whole front axle complete with springs as the remains of the bolts have to be drilled out. That's not all negative, as it allowed me to thoroughly clean the axle from all sides and paint it.   First though, I received a small delivery earlier this week from Robert de Ruijter of Dataplates4U, one of the worlds foremost makers of correct data plates of all sorts of classic cars and their parts, military or civilian.     This simple plate really adds a great detail to the jeep and I will fix it to the frame when all the paint is cured. The holes for the plate are dead on though, so I think it will be an easy job.   Now, to remove that axle. Thanks to the mobile engine crane I bought on impulse a few years ago this was actually a pretty straightforward job, as you only need to remove the spring shackles with bushes and the front propeller shaft (I already removed all the brake lines). After the axle complete with springs and wheels was disconnected we hoisted the front of the frame high enough remove the whole assembly from the side (as the crane was at the front for stability) and, we turned our attention to the snapped bolts.         Fortunately the remains of the bolts came out easily after having been soaked in penetrating oil for a week, and we could clean the underside of the frame and prime.   In the meanwhile I prepared my high-tec paint booth to spray a bunch of smaller parts as well:       And the party could begin!                       The results weren't bad at all and we even managed to get the axle back in place. 😊     Unfortunately I didn't have time to properly clean and paint the engine block, so this is on the agenda for next week together with another batch of smaller parts and a few more coats of paint for this section of the frame. After that I have to face a bad dream I can't run away from anymore: where to stash all the stuff that is now stacked on the rear of the frame, under the plastic tarp...   To be continued 😏
