Looks like a match to me! I assume Mr. Gervasio turned in his helmet + cover right before returning to the states and it just got reissued to Mr. Popielski? -

Officially, welcome! I see you’ve been on since 2022, but with not many posts, I have to say, your 502nd kit looks great. And I also appreciate you efforts to include and show us younger people the joys of the militaria world and how it shaped our nation. And your right, younger people do care! Gear Fan -

I agree with you Wharfmaster. Exactly what defines 'Significant'? -

I agree, it is healthy to be skeptical of painted helmets. I think this one is the real deal, granted maybe not his combat helmet or in the configuration of his combat helmet, but definetly related to the guy in some way. A better estimate of it’s originality and other factors can be made once we have more photos. So for now we just wait. -

I appreciate everyone's input. Yeah, my camera and the lighting make it look a lot lighter and glossier than it is. If I have time I'll post better photos. I really don't have doubt as to authenticity and as far as time period I'll have to find info about the vet. I could be wrong but I don't think they used follow me bars after the war. It is what it is and will be taken care of in my collection. -

I am in search of a WW2 MK2 fighting knife in very good to excellent condition. I Know enough to know I don't know what is important with these fighting knives. The ones I have found on ebay either have good blades and handles with so-so sheaths or a nice sheath with average blade and handles. What is the more important? I will only be buying 1 to go with my MK4 bayonet and Mk3 which are both Camillus. I spent 8yrs in the USMC before being medically retired, so I prefer to keep it a USMC marked version. If I can't find one that meets my wants I may pick up a USN version as they are more readily available in new to like new condition. And then keep on the hunt for the USMC. What features / opinions are do the forum members hold. What prices for these knives are acceptable at this current date and time? I initially have a $500 upper end budget, but may be able to swing a little more if the right one comes along. Does this sound reasonable? -

I like the obverse of the Arctic Service Medal. However, way too wordy on the reverse. W -
