Sorry to bump an old thread but I purchased one of the hc smoke pots at an estate sale as I thought it was unique. I am trying to find out a little more info. -

This amazing helmet came out of the woodwork in Montana. A nice front seam, FB with an MSA liner. The front has the 90th Division painted insignia and below there's the outline of an oakleaf that has broken off sometime in the helmets history. The reverse of the pot has the officer's vertical "follow me" stripe. The MSA liner was painted red a some point but the leather sweatband has the name "Major Cooper" in ink. Not sure how hard it would be to research the name but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It would be amazing if it turned out to be a D-Day helmet as I believe 3 battalions of the division landed at Omaha Beach on June 6. Regardless, the 90th Division saw lots and lots of action starting in Normandy to the surrender of the German Army. -

Good to know! I haven’t been able to find anything while I’ve been here. I’ve went to quite a few antique shops and they’re very slim -

First of these newsletters I've ever found. Sent from the CO of the Bon Homme Richard to the families back home directly after the Gulf of Tonkin incident letting them know the carrier had been extended because of Communist aggression in Southeast Asia. Signed by the CO, Captain G. S. Morrison, the father of Jim Morrison of the Doors. This is kind of a historic piece as it marks the beginning of the Vietnam War. -

Welcome from Nebraska! Several collectors down in your area. I try to come down there every couple months or so. FYI: There is a great military collectors show in Hastings, NE every March! -

Nice addition. Yes, for some reason people go crazy for these early numbered GC medals. I was lucky to pick up a very early numbered GC here on the forum a few years ago here on the forum and even though it was a bit pricey I still think I got a really good deal on it as these are certainly not something you see everyday. Congrats on the new addition to the museum. -
