I am afraid there is very little data on him that I’ve found so far. He was in the care of the V.A. Hospital when he passed away of kidney failure in 1937, and on his WW1 draft registration card he signed it with an ‘X’ so it’s doubtful he was able to read or write. -

The hard part is also going to be finding a "nice and salty" Vietnam M1. Finding a 100% correct Vietnam ERA M1 is easy. The market is loaded with them. But finding an M1 that was actually in theater and combat used is, IMO, much more difficult. That's going to take some patience and some digging. -

RIP Marine. Off to the great mess hall in the sky. I hope there’s pudding… Seldom see a scuba badge - very cool. -

Has anyone found a "CIC" armband like this before? I found it at the swap meet last year. The seller told me he remembered some plain WW2 era uniform shirts, but they were small and unpatched so he left them. I read it could mean "Counterintelligence Corps", which was very active towards the end of WW2 and would wear unpatched uniforms that didn't even show ranks, or it could be for the Navy's "Combat Information Center", which I cannot find any info for related to having special insignia during WW2. I know the British CIC wore armbands in this color, but the American version is white text on dark blue. -

Rest in Peace to my Vietnam Vet grandfather, Kenneth Nutter. He passed away on 5/21/2025. His nickname was "Gunner". He was in Na Trang as an S-2 Scout Sniper attached to 2/5. I believe he was there in Vietnam in the Fall of 1974, but I am not sure. When he first got there in Vietnam, he was with ANGLICO. Ken's first unit out of boot camp in September of 1972 was H&S Co, 2/5. His Scout Sniper school was at Camp Margarita. My grandpa, Ken "Gunner" Nutter was friends with a guy named Tim Yost. Tim supposedly killed himself in 1975. If anyone knew my grandpa, please tell me more about his experience. Thank you! -

Have you ever been to the museum at the 5th Regiment Armory in downtown Baltimore? Lots of great information on and militaria of the 29th ID. The focus is of course on the 115th and 175th Infantry as well as the 110th FA or the Maryland units of the division. With that said you should plan a trip. It’s small but any fan of the 29th ID should visit, the staff is also beyond friendly as well as very accommodating. -
