Probably navy or the ever elusive “snow camo” but those are a myth practically. Most likely a navy helmet. Nice find!

What do you think about this one? Genuine Zippo of 1970. Americal Division, 196th Infantry Brigade, 27th Chemical Detachment. The font and inscription in general seem OK. Chronologically everything is OK. But the insignia seems incorrect. The Americal Division insignia is the shield with four asymmetric stars.

Took a second look, the straps are just sewn on, not bar tacked.

I walked into a local charity shop the other day and picked up this shell. It had come in with some donations. Well it cost equivalent to $15 so I couldn’t leave it. It is front seam, swivel bale with a clear stamp of 732D. The chinstrap seems to be original but the hook is missing. The strap was hooked around the back of the helmet with the metal tab jammed into the loop of the other strap, it had been there a while as the paint was cleaner under it. Of course the obvious thing is it has been brush painted white along time ago.  I ain’t got a clue why it would be white. Any  comments would be much appreciated

IMO, looks it was refurbished for reenacting, bet the pads replaced the suspension just for comfort since you can't see the inside when your wearing it. Straps kind of look like they are bar tacked for extra realism. Liner color is off and doesn't fit right. The straps all look like they came from J. Murray. Whoever put it all together did a pretty good job for reenacting purposes, most people wouldn't know the difference. Also looks like a mid 80's chin strap. Cool man cave display.

Got these today. Pretty basic but in pretty good condition overall. One has an earlier Westinghouse/Micarta stamped liner which is my first. The other has what I believe to be a twill Mitchell cover. Both of the sweat bands are in pretty good condition and everything looks to be period correct based on all of the DSA #'s which I rarely ever find. Best Vietnam era examples I have obtained in awhile.
