7th ID does make sense, Okinawa was the only campaign 10th Army participated in as well so recipient could have joined the Div in Hawaii tor the campaign. Was it common for a soldier to stay within the same Division for their career?

It's tough to see, unfortunately, but given the quality, it appears privately done. If the engraving was done better, it would be closest to the replacement Purple Hearts sent out in the 1980s.

I've seen it on another Peters lot card from the same time period so I suspect it was just a peculiarity of that manufacturer.  Their proof readers didn't catch it. Still interesting to see.
