I went to the range  with my Son and we both fired the Johnson today. I had not fired it since I got it and I really did not know what to expect. I had never in my life fired a .30-06. I fired plenty of 7.62x51 in a M60 so I was expecting a kick... But it was not too bad. The barrel recoils back a little bit and theres a spring in the butt stock for the bolt, so that must take up a good percentage of recoil. Still has a kick just not as severe as I expected it to be. No flash suppressor on it so you get a ball of flame with each shot. Sight picture was a little tough maybe because my old eyes and partly due to the way the sights are set up. ? I dont know. We fired 60 rounds through it. It had one hick up when I tried 2 real quick shots. Like a double tap. And I dont know if my hand got in the way somehow or what? So all in all it ran like a champ. 84 year old rifle.

French units such as this are highly sought after. I am unfamiliar with these specific units, but the price doesn't seem unreasonable in the slightest and I'd guess they likely fought with Americans.

This patch is a period original. It is theater made. A lot of people would say German made, but I believe a lot of these are French made.

. Spotted whilst watching Sherlock Holmes video.   Watching the 1943 episode of Sherlock Holmes in Washington it was interesting to see from the aircraft the US Navy munitions building to the side of the Lincoln Memorial, this was built in 1918 and finally demolished around 1970.  During the 1980's / 1990's the Vietnam memorial was built on the site or alongside the site of the old Navy factory.  It seems quite strange that such a large munitions factory was built so close to Washington.        Norman D. I have this 15th Cavalry patch, but just checking, as I don't know if this is a German theater made patch or not. Does anybody know? It doesn't glow under blacklight.   Thank you.
