Note: 1st pattern, US Army 1st Special Operations Command 'combat' patch.  DUJAIL, IRAQ - OCTOBER 18, 2005  U.S. Army soldiers salute during a memorial service for Sgt. Robert Tucker at a military base October 18, 2005 in Dujail, Iraq. Tucker, 20, from Cookeville, Tennessee, was killed by insurgents when a roadside bomb blew up his armored vehicle on October 13 near Dujail, just two weeks before the end of his 10-month deployment in Iraq. He was assigned to K-Troop, of the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, which patrols the area around Dujail. Saddam Hussein is scheduled to go on trial on October 19, for the death of 143 people from Dujail who he allegedly ordered killed in 1985 in revenge for an assassination attempt. Got this last year at a thrift store. Not sure if it was ever used though.

Thanks guys. I guess finding a 123rd with a K will be near impossible. I'm glad a simple crossed rifles and US would suffice.

Sorry that the images are blurry, I did the best I could.

I got these at a garage sale a year ago. One I don't think was ever used, and the other had all but one (U.S. Army Tape) of the patches removed. However, there is some evidence of rank patches on the collar. There is also a spot where there used to be a unit patch on the left sleeve. The used one may have been used in Panama??? I can't tell.

I have a Wright Air Development Center document dated August 1958 that lists the CRU-8/P as a standard item with an FSN of 1660-609-0521.  I looked at that FSN and found a reference to it that listed a part/drawing number of 57D3660. Looks like the CRU-8 came along in 1957. Your 1957 - 58 use date would be right.

All the other patches with the exception of the crusader and   vini Vici are training squadron patches. I would interested in a few if you ever want to move them along

Gary Cunningham's, U.S. Knife Bayonets and Scabbards (the yellow version) is a great start, but it is out of print and very pricey. Military Knives A Reference Book, is a good collection of military knife articles from Knife World magazine. Many written by Frank Trzaska. U.S. Knives, Bayonets and Machetes Book III, by M. H. Cole, a must. Might be out of print, but it is a very useful reference. Knives of the U.S. Military World War II, by Michael W. Silvey, not a lot of text but great pictures.    These will get you started. If you want to get in depth, there are books on specific models of bayonets out there. If you have not been to Frank Trzaska's website usmilitaryknives.com, it is a great resource. Lots of info, you can spend days reading there. Highly recommended.
