. Friends ribbing friends . . . . . . . London Jeeping friend has been building a flat head V-8 Hot-Rod. This is how he made his chassis-engine moveable in the garage and saving valuable working space fitting wooden discs to roll it around. He's trying to emulate the returning servicemen and building a California Rod. I asked him if he was going so far as to emulate the wartime lack of rubber for tires as well . . . . . . . . . . 😹 Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, May 23 2O25. …. -

. Hi Johan, Thanks we had that one sometime in the last year, I liked it because local friend Mike was a photographer before retiring, he even ventured into various war zones, he never mentions it, his wife spilt the beans one evening about being in the Kosovo-Albanian conflict 1998 period. I think there is a different angle of this shot of buckles that was posted early in this topic. Grinding through a bit of stuff posted on FB, I came across this shot of buckles on Vintage Productions FB page. -

In case you may be interested in the souvenirs I made from the Hangar One wood, here is the link to that project. https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/354626-uss-macon-and-hangar-1-model-made-from-wood-from-the-hangar/#comment-2826302 mikie -

Today I worked on my broken rear handguard. Though my grandfather was a highly skilled woodworker, it is yet another skill I am sadly lacking in. One section near the clip that was cracked broke off after I started fiddling with it after it arrived. I cleaned up the break a little and then used wood glue to join the pieces together. Once the glue hardened, I got a bit creative filling in the gap between the two pieces. I hand carved a sliver of wood to fit the gap, glued it in place, used wood filler to fill the gaps, then sanded it all smooth. The clever part is that I used a small piece of leftover wood I had that had been salvaged from Hangar One at nearby Moffat Field. Somewhere on the forum is a thread I posted about this wood and the souvenirs I made out of them. All that is left now with this is figuring out what shade of stain to use on it. mikie -
