Thanks for getting back to me. If I were to measure my head like you would for a hat or something, what size would be too big for a "one size fits most" liner? Also here's some pictures. Please let me know if pictures of different components or at different angles are needed and I will get. Thanks for the help. -

Flea market find yesterday, empty box , later used to store bird egg collection ( long gone ) but box still has a list of the eggs stuck on one side. -

Original m1917 shells came in one size, and original liners came in several different sizes. The liner should fit your head more or less like a hat, rather than being perched on the very top of your head. I'm pretty sure all the reproduction liners are "one size fits all", so if you're using one of those it might be a case of "one size fits most". It's also possible that the shell you have is not a standard m1917. Pics of the helmet and liner would probably help if you can post them. -
