Hello Everyone,   Has anyone else seen an Army Service Forces (ASF) Patch with a White Border?  Standard WWII construction, cut-edge, and measures about 2 1/2 inches in diameter.   Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks for looking.  Bruce Linz

From the muster rolls, it looks like reported onboard in December 1945.

I cannot find another wool variation of this online. Most likely early 1955-1957 US made.

Yeah, I know it needs work. I'm a little broke right now though, because I just spent about $200 on a Vietnam War impression.  I have filled up the belt, and am planning on getting an M43 shovel cover. The shovel came with an M56 cover, which is alright, but not accurate for WW2 (obviously).  The net was the only one that I had. I hope to get a 1/4 inch one soon, but for now I'll just have to wait. The helmet is not front seam. It is a Chinese reproduction I found for only 20 dollars, so it was alright. I plan on getting an original one soon. I'm going down to the Twin Cities (I live in Minnesota) to get 3 M1 helmets with liners (2 ATF repros and 1 original with a shrimp net). The only bayonet I have right now is a British 1907 Wilkinson bayonet. I hope to purchase an American one once I finally come across some more money.    Thank you for all the tips,  Wade

I'm in the process of putting a new liner in a m1917 helmet that I have, but I've run into a roadblock. Upon laying the liner inside the helmet and trying it on in various different positions and adjustments, I've found that it sits significantly higher on my head than I expected it to. I need ya'lls help to trouble shoot the issue. As near as I can tell either my helmet shell is too small, the liner is too small, by head is too big, or I don't understand how to properly install, adjust, or wear the liner. The questions I need answered are these. What is the range of head sizes that ought to he able to wear an m1917 helmet? Is the inner band meant to go around your head like a baseball cap or along the top of your head? How low down on your head is the helmet supposed to be sitting? Is my shell for some reason out of spec? Thank you all for your time.

If that is a post-WW2 portrait, perhaps he considered the SSI appropriate for him because the unit number was the same. Patch dealers made these widely available to collectors after the war.

Picked up this poster the other day. Any thoughts are appreciated.  I posted in the other section to determine if authentic with no success. I also wonder whether it was printed during later wars, other than World War II   Any thoughts are appreciated
