I think waiting may be the choice. Anything really good on ebay for a good price suggests it may have problems. And even I found marked M1 helmets, and I did it going to flea markets and surplus shops and church sales on the bus. -

After some digging I found this photo of the ladies who manufactured the ordnance at this plant. I love these old photo's. I guess the interweb is good for something once in awhile. -

Looks good. But, its up to $360.00 with 3 days to go. Theres no liner. Who ever gets it will have to pair it with a liner. There is also no name in it. Maybe Im getting picky here, but anything un named without a liner pushing $400.00 is not for me. If I lay down big bucks for a helmet, I want a name in it. And a liner that seems like it belongs with the helmet. Personal pref. Always try to remind yourself, that the cost of these WW2 helmets 80 years ago was a dollar and 98 cents for the steel and the liner. Without at least a name, I would not spend big bucks on it. It just as well could have been used in the 1970's as been used in WW2. Maybe Korea? Latter years they all were worn with covers. So who knows? Thats the problem with spending a lot of money on this. Its a WW2 helmet but thats all one can claim. Just an opinion. Iron Benders has a hawley. That right there makes it worth more. Id bid up on a helmet like that even without a name. -

Here’s my 1st Lt I found in 1999. Top rear suffered a bit from poor storage. 138A lot# -

I was at the Goodwill a few years ago and saw one of the employees place this real crusher in the Halloween costume section. She must have thought I was crazy when I ran over and snatched it up. 2 bucks. Love me some Goodwill militaria finds. Deals like this in a collection are the coolest kind because you will always remember the rush of seeing it for the first time and have a pretty cool story to go with it. -

Remember this pups well. When my brother was in Desert Storm, wrote about the cold nights and that someone stole his sleeping bag. I sent him one and he was comfy the rest of the nights he was there 😄
