The DUI is for the 26th Infantry. That should mean he was part of the 1st Division. The image look too fuzzy to make out the details of the collar disks. -

The 1860 Lorenz percussion rifle is marked on the stock OHIO Co H. The photo album is from a CB who went in to Normandy on D-Day plus one. -

The glider was never removed from the airborne cap patch. This patch was used right up to the time the overseas cap was replaced by the beret.
