aren't we all? I collect mainly anything  US 20th century, but have been trying to narrow down my collection to ww1, ww2, early Nam' stuff, and Desert Storm/shield stuff. really just stuff I think looks cool or whatever I get hooked on that year. I also do a lot of reenacting and displays, so anything that displays well I'll grab.

I recrntly was given this holster and have been trying to figure out the manufacturer and the name/service number hand written on it. The manufacturer stamp is partially worn down, it kind looks like two digits S &R maybe. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for the offer. I do have a clip. My rear handguard is a bit beat up around that clip area. I think this will be my next thing to tackle.  I heard that about the CMP. Interesting.  mikie

It started life as a M1905. Once the cut down was completed it became simply a M1 bayonet. Collectors love to type class everything.

Hi Allan, It is silk.  Would they have had glider patches in Vietnam?

Possible Greek return; US use did not stamp numbers on the guard.  A lot of these came back through the CMP in past years.

I’m a lifelong history buff so I collect anything from any time and place that I find interesting, affordable, and that doesn’t take up a lot of room. But my emphasis has always been the US Civil War and WWII. I sometimes get obsessed with looking for stuff when I read a good book or see a good movie. And that is not limited to just militaria. Confession, as a collector, I’m a mess.  mikie

It might be private but it’s a beautiful job.

If you didn’t put the weight back on you lost from exercising, you would eventually just disappear.  With my diet and iron willpower, eating donuts is just a distant dream. Enjoy! mikie

The back looks like raw silk which makes me think it is Japanese. It is machine embroidered, so that makes me think that it is Vietnam era.   Allan
