Not a patch, but this seemed like the best thread to add this vintage license plate.

My previous post on the hat stack from an 1950s RV uniform brought to mind that I have not included an RV collar device in this thread.     The Ross Volunteers, aka RVs, are the honor guard unit from A&M.  The unit is the official military honor guard for the governor of Texas.  They also served as the guard of honor for President George H. W. Bush at his internment in College Station.  The RVs are the oldest extant organization on campus, initially being formed in 1887 as the Scott Volunteers (after then college business manager Thomas Scott).  From 1891 to 1905, the name changed to Ross Volunteers, then to Foster Rifles, then to Houston Rifles, before being permanently back to Ross Volunteers in 1905.  Ross, Foster and Houston were A&M Presidents during these 14 years.    Here are pictures showing the overall Jacket, left and right collar devices, full shot of the cover, the RV ribbons, an officer shoulder board (CO, XO, etc) and late 201X unit shot.  You have to admit they look good, but dang the uniforms are dirt magnets.

Here are some of the examples I have managed to get this last year. The APG Honor Guard is for Aberdeen Proving Grounds. I cannot find a picture of this one in use.

I do not know why I have not posted this one before! 370th Inf. Reg. Not one you see too often.

A new Hat Badge or "stack as been discovered.  This one was found on the cover of an RV uniform found in an antique store in Gruene Texas.  This uniform also included all the brass, which helps identify characteristics.   This badge is like the A&MC stack, but it is missing the C from the A&MC in the scroll.  I have never seen one of these before and can only guess that it is a "transition" stack that existed only briefly either just prior to when the Corps Brass was first issued (now pegged at 1959 or 1960 by the son of the cadet who designed it back in the day) and when the current hat stack appeared.   Another possibility is that this one was from earlier in the 1950s and the RV cadet who wore the uniform wore this stack only on his RV cover, thereby throwing a monkey wrench in all my timelines.

The only information we have on his service is from the newspaper article. Hopefully I can get his official service history sometime in the near future. Thanks for your interest. Rick

Picked up this mk1 practice and did a little research showing they were painted blue, just wanting others opinions on the paint. Thanks

Nice uniform, I have a painted helmet from the 814th PI also depicting a black devil motif.
