Hello ! This is a recent purchase from ebay, was sold by estate sales reseller. Radio appears untouched and not modified. Has low serial number with unknown to me code "SF". Other odd/early characteristics include chromed slotted screws all around and also use of such slotted screws in many locations that are riveted on later radios. Paint is original and there is no signs of any repaint or rebuild - thats the color from manufacturer. Has no date for fungus treatment either... Any other examples like that around ? could it be some small batch made for Navy testing ? export ? I would appreciate any other input on low serial number radios in 1000 range - were they also all screw assembled or all riveted like my 1944 unit ? seller only had main unit - no batter box .. antennas etc. -

I found this at a flea market a couple of weeks ago. I’m not supposed to eat potatoes anymore so I did not buy it. Anyone care to try any of these recipes? mikie -

Any explanation for the bronze service star on the Army Overseas Service Ribbon? Unless the ARs have been changed in the last few months, bronze Arabic numerals are used to show subsequent completed overseas tours. -

Once the Sailor is out of the military he can do what he wants....Marines try to look "Salty" and I would guess that would stay with the 1940-47 just to identify as "Old Corps". Bill -

Acid free tissue paper works great and I have used it numerous times. It can be found on-line at archival suppliers like Gaylord Brothers or at your local craft shops. Just make sure it is acid free and not "regular." You also never want to use colored tissue paper as it is not acid free and has the distince possibility of bleeding. I have also used unbleached muslin bought at the local fabric store. It is thicker so a little bit harder to work with. Steve -

Just curious, which order of precedence is considered accurate - at the time of discharge, or when some future order replaces another? -
