Congrats to the Lucky Winner, I think whoever he is did well. And quite an exciting finish, 4 different bidders in the last 10 seconds of the auction. Adam is a dear friend and the deal he gave me years ago I believe was below FMV then. -

The mirror is in the standard waterproof wrapper as prescribed for US Navy contract, those with markings as on yours were sup-pled with the M-592 back pad kit. They are correct for the original contractor packing. -

Hey Buddy! I found these pics of a real Dewey Medal. The scroll has a ships name on it. And the real ones have the sailors name on the edge. The type on this example is soft. I dont know, but I think its a fake and it has a new ribbon it seems like. Not an expert at all, Its just my gut telliing me its fake. Fake like a restrike wing. Cheap price for a very rare medal. No ships name. No sailors name. Soft details.. Ribbon seems new.... Pics are from Wikipedia... The last two are from the Ebay auction. Dave -

What is the width of the bail attachment on the helmet? After that does the heat lot match the other heat lot numbers of known D bails? What about detailed pics of the chin straps? -

Thanks for showing this great comprehensive collection! My wife just came across one with a blue stripe that says “UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS” and we were trying to date it. Semper Fi from an old Marine! -

The backing is really fragile and someday, not today, I may get brave enough to remove it and see if anything is written on the back of the photo. I also find it rather strange that with all the business ads on the back there are absolutely no addresses. I did find a date of Oct. 21, 1919 on one of papers. I also found an ad for the Fulton Opera House. I googled it and there is an opera house by that name located in Lancaster, PA. It opened in 1852 and it us still in business. It is also a US National Historic Landmark. This makes sense because I found the photo in PA and I believe that it was actually in Lancaster County but not positive. I appreciate the comments. Thanks! -
