Agree with Robin. Not USGI but a private purchase item. While generally similar to the M1916 holster it differs in a number of details that distinguish the USGI holsters. Charlie -

https://www.ebay.com/itm/267239778754 Whaddayathink? If you knew what to look for, you'd know. Ends in a bit over an hour. If it's a Tiff, its a good price. And if so, it's a great opportunity to pick up a Tiffany specimen struck from the original dies at a fraction of what an original issue named Tiffany Dewey would cost. BTW, I know not the seller nor have any financial stake in the auction outcome. But it's fun to watch the last few seconds on medal auctions like this one. -

An interesting combo wonder if there are any numbers on how many Soldier Medal/Airman's Medal recipients are out there if any? The decorations alongside single campaign only isn't unheard of I'd say for mini worn groups, I have another, possibly recipient going for a simpler look wearing only the most meaningful awards on their mess dress. -

. looking at photos, whether you are looking at uniform and equipment photos or Jeep photos, sometimes you have to see beyond when a Jeep is a Jeep, is a Jeep. and see what else can be seen or is happening in the photo. Hi Graham, a USMC photo for you, how old does the guy in the back of the Jeep look, he looks older than the regulation limits for a serviceman. Anyway here's a small detail, when restorers replace a rotted out panel on a Jeep windscreen so many of them miss adding this small hole on the left and right of the panel, note the arrow pointing to the hole. Well front and rear will essentially be Ford anyway as I'm going to put on an original F-marked pintle hook (which has the biggest script F of all GPW parts I believe) as it's the only original WW2 pintle that I have. At the moment the middle-section is basically Ford too as I currently have an original F-marked cross-over tube on the engine; this will be replaced with the correct one for the pancake air cleaner though but I do have a complete GPW steering box with shaft in my spares matchbox I could put on... So yeah, it's basically a GPW already anyway 😂 There, mystery solved! 😁 I have always liked the Fiat 124 Spider, our neighbor had one and with my dad having a 1969 Alfa Romeo Spider they took them out for a spin together quite often. -

I haven’t had a chance to look for any rust treatments yet. Do either of the recommendations, Evapo Rust, or Kroil, harm the original finish on the parts? I don’t want to do more damage to the original metal finish than I absolutely have to. I’m much more of a history buff than anything and I want the gun as original as possible. Refinishing the metal would spoil it for me. Thanks, mikie
