. looking at photos, whether you are looking at uniform and equipment photos or Jeep photos, sometimes you have to see beyond when a Jeep is a Jeep, is a Jeep. and see what else can be seen or is happening in the photo. Well front and rear will essentially be Ford anyway as I'm going to put on an original F-marked pintle hook (which has the biggest script F of all GPW parts I believe) as it's the only original WW2 pintle that I have. At the moment the middle-section is basically Ford too as I currently have an original F-marked cross-over tube on the engine; this will be replaced with the correct one for the pancake air cleaner though but I do have a complete GPW steering box with shaft in my spares matchbox I could put on... So yeah, it's basically a GPW already anyway 😂 There, mystery solved! 😁 I have always liked the Fiat 124 Spider, our neighbor had one and with my dad having a 1969 Alfa Romeo Spider they took them out for a spin together quite often. -

I haven’t had a chance to look for any rust treatments yet. Do either of the recommendations, Evapo Rust, or Kroil, harm the original finish on the parts? I don’t want to do more damage to the original metal finish than I absolutely have to. I’m much more of a history buff than anything and I want the gun as original as possible. Refinishing the metal would spoil it for me. Thanks, mikie -

Most baseball fans with knowledge of the game's history are familiar with the name "Pesky" and his legacy at Fenway Park in Boston. Red Sox shortstop Johnny Pesky led the American League in hits in each of his first three seasons; 1942, 1946-47. The right field foul pole affectionately bears his name due to Pesky "wrapping" some of his Fenway Park homeruns around it. After his 1942 rookie campaign, Johnny enlisted into the Navy in 1943, joining Ted Williams in the Navy's V-5 flight training program. Pesky's younger brother, Vincent, a semi-pro pitcher who had been offered a contract with the Yankees, enlisted into the Navy months prior as a hospital apprentice and was assigned to NAS Pasco (Washington) where he served and played on the base's baseball team in 1943. He was sent to NTC Bainbridge for training in the Tunney Athletic Program and was re-designated as an athletic specialist and sent to Naval Air Station Seattle. For the 1944 baseball season, he joined Fred Hutchinson as part of a 1-2 punch of dynamic starting pitchers as the "Navalairs" that dominated the Pacific Northwest Service League. After playing for the Navalairs briefly in 1945, Vincent Pesky was transferred to TADCEN at Shoemaker and was added to the Fleet Center "Bluejackets" ball team for part of the 1945 season before being sent to the Pacific with Air Transport Squadron Twelve (VR-12) until he was returned to the U.S. for discharge in January 1946. Born Vincent Joseph Paveskovich, August 21, 1921 in Portland, Oregon, Vince adopted the same modified surname as his brother while he played baseball (Johnny legally changed his name to Pesky in 1947). Vincent graduated from Portland's Lincoln High School in 1940 having played baseball and hockey. Weeks later, he signed with the Albany Alcos, a regional semi-pro ball team and made his debut on July 18, against the Satchel Paige-led Kansas City Monarchs. I recently acquired Vince Pesky's tailor-made dress service dress blues from a collector in the Portland area where the ballplayer-turned-sailor "retired from Portland Public Schools in 1998 following a 44-year career as a teacher, administrator and coach. Pesky is a member of the Portland Interscholastic League’s Hall of Fame." Pesky passed away on January 3, 2021, months shy of his 100th birthday. -
