I took a photographics class in high school way back in 1974. It was my first and only time to develop my own film. This brings back a few interesting memories. mikie -

Ha! That reminds me when I picked up some things from the packaging store a few years ago. Heading towards the entrance, I saw two of these giant bags of packing peanuts walking towards me. Then I saw they were being carried together by a tiny Asian lady. She was completely hidden behind the bags until she passed me. I asked if she needed help. She had it under control but we both laughed about how funny it looked. mikie -

Hi, I found a really interesting captured helmet that was brought back by a US Vet, but I have no clue what the helmet actually says. If anybody could help with the translation on this, I would be very grateful, lots of the writing is faded, and was surely written at different times ! Thanks -

I vote clean! If it was just darkened patina, I'd leave it. Looks like some serious verdigris so I'd clean it up. -

`If you review the first page of this thread you'll find that the marking above is post Vietnam. It does look like an unused machete and this is the style that was often found in the WW2 issued ones. -

Yesterday we began some work to revamp our WWII USMC section at Michigan's Military Heritage Museum. While still a work in progress, we started with a couple of 1st Div Marines including one who served at Guadalcanal and later in Okinawa and China, as shown by the late camo uniform, another who was at Guadalcanal, and a 2nd Div Tarawa Marine. Up next will be a nice navy corpsman as well as a MAW and 4th Div set of Brothers. Scott -

Under the expert guidance of forum member illinigander our cart restoration is taking shape. We have had several delays as we acquired the 1909 ambulance wagons, and are also completing a 1902 caisson and limber restoration with a fairly small group of volunteers. The rotted wood has been replaced and a new ammo box holder has been fabricated with mounting in progress. All of the leather straps have been made and we were able to save and reuse the original buckles and hardware. Next up will be the gun box and accessories. Scott -
