Unfortunately  the  ordnance museum and their field full of armored vehicles that was located at APG is long gone. The building has even been torn down. I really have some great memories of taking my boys to that museum. Therefore  I honestly had a tear in my eye sitting there looking at the empty field where the museum once stood.  With that said and with the little bit of research that I have done I have learned that Fort Meade actually played a significant roll in the early days of US Army armored units. There is also a museum on Fort Meade that is actually still standing and it opens for the season on May 17th. I believe that may be my best chance of possibly IDing the unit and location of the photo. Fort Meade is also only about a 40 minute ride or so from me straight down 95S. So I believe I may take a trip down there in the near future with the photo and hope I find some answers. I appreciate your comments.  Thanks!

Seeing the collar disc are a no go and I can not I men that would indicate that the studio is still in business. Unfortunately I have attempted to contact the Maryland Historical Society at other times and they have never yet responded h to on my inquiries. I appreciate the information.   Thanks!

Amazing, I plan to discuss these brothers in Volume III of my book series on Belleau Wood.  There were quite a few sets of brothers in the brigade.  Wonderful items.  Thank you for sharing.

I just acquired this machete. It looks to be an M 1942 type and never used. Was this type issued for use in Vietnam?

I recently received this image from a friend who discovered online. This design supposedly represented the 881stBS at 'some time' during WWII, but to me it has more the look of a AAF Base Unit emblem. Can anyone help with this design? Thanks. RW
