I agree with Bearmon, looks like a nice period example. There were two slightly different versions of this patch produced but I am not sure what the back story is to why they were made differently.

Stoner could qualify for that "I hate my name" thread.  Or maybe love his name, depending on where his head was at. 

I have always liked this patch design. I think these are more souvenir/novelty rather than attributable to a specific unit. For years I tended to think of them being primarily worn by members of Air Force but earlier this year I picked up a small set of patches attributed to a Navy pilot that included a similar example. 

I know it's going to be tough to find, but if anyone reading this post has a spare original Case V-42 stiletto sheath/scabbard for sale?,  I have an original V-42 but got it in an auction w/o the sheath, and it would be nice to have it among the knife. Thank you! 😃

I was thinking it could be occupation of Germany era  I’ve seen similar patterns with the detailed feathers made by Assmann. 

As granny would say,  "Them are all good",  as in US Mint production,  officially engraved and issued by the USN to the sailors named on them.    I knew a Ralph Davis who was a B17 bomber pilot, same name as your last medal.   Ralph used to run every day well into his 80s, not an ounce of fat on him and still had a hairline and head of hair better than most 25 year olds.   Told some good bomber pilot stories when I sometimes ran with him, and one particularly wing and a prayer landing in England.      

A friend is slowly cleaning out his garage and two storage lockers of "stuff" he's collected over time. He's been bringing in a little here and there...today was a box with miscellaneous stuff, including this Army Aviation Cadet Sergeant's chevron (a lonely single for now)....   Mark sends
