Reviving a very old topic here but I can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for- after the adoption of the Alice bandage pouch, was the sodium bicarbonate packet ever actually issued/carried along with the two first aid dressings? From the thread I can see it was designed to accommodate but it looks like as time went on, that requirement fell to the wayside

Hi Graham,   thanks for keeping some of the catalogs I did and your kind comment about the contents and photos,  one of the rear cover photos you have shown is a photograph of John Rowe who Johan and I mentioned a few posts ago at Easter, it was one of the photo reconstructions we did around the late 80's early 90's .  All the kit worn by everyone were original items and the photos often taken by Simone Pugh who is seen in the top left rear cover kneeling holding a camera.       Norman D. Hi all, I found this 16th Cavalry scroll and wondered what are your thoughts on this - good ? As I remember there was a discussion here in the Forum about Vietnam era tabs / scrolls with paper backing what was assessed as a red flag but I couldn't find this topic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jerry, nice photos. Thank you for sharing. And if you look closely at this photo, this navy officer is wearing a Marine summer shirt as demonstrated by the scalloped pocket flaps. Probably due to them being more breathable and lighter weight.     

My first post wasn't as clear as I had hoped. When I said they rechambered the P-14 to 30-06 I did not mean they converted the British rifles, the M-1917s were made as M-1917s just using the British design that the manufacturers were tooled for but adapted for American use. Not sure where the P-17 nomenclature came from but I did not mention it. Back to the bayonet, I can't really see it clearly but is that a crown just above the US marking on the blade? If so it was probably sent to the UK as Lend-lease and the British marked it and replaced the green leather in the scabbard with black leather which had the broad arrow.
