Some scabbards are have black painted hardware, is this the way they came and if so what time period? Both scabbards are made by PWH. I hope someone knows what the story is behind this. Best regards Ken -

Thanks. Dont know about the match up. Thinking of getting it or not. Weird set up. Ive seen pics of arvn with old ww2 hrlmets with khaki straps. Inside the shell is lighter green like nam color? -

Anybody’s guess where it’s been, but the shell is a fixed bale so it dates to early to mid-ww2. (Hardware on the strap suggests mid-ww2 if original to the shell). Does it look like the rust and or wear on the shell and liner match up well? -

This helmet is dark paint maybe from sun damage? Inside shell is vietnam color painted? The chin straps look like ww2. The liner of course looks vietnam era. Arvn helmet? It has FSR 1 or 10 written inside the liner webbing and shell. Any idea? -

You can post the sword on the Japanese sub forum on Wehrmacht Awards Forum. Several established Japanese sword collectors reside on that site. As a side note, I cant imagine why you would want to remove the leather. I doubt any serious sword collectors would recommend that. -
