In your original question you ask if there is a difference between US Army and AAF officers caps.  The answer is no, there is no difference.  AAF is Army Air Force, so no difference.  However many associate the Crusher or Crushed caps with the AAF.  Towles apparently also had a Crusher/Crushed cap as the photo of Towles posted by R Leonard shows. Not all that uncommon for an AAF officer to have more than one cap.  One for dress uniform and one for flight duty.  Hope this helps.

The ones I have seen on the internet and beyond usually have a paper backing of some kind, but the style looks similar to some I’ve seen before. This one  stumps me, I don’t really deal with patches much so that’s just my observation 

The clutches are WW2 (effective subliminal method to sell as WW2), but the combination of not being marked sterling, being clutchback and the beautifully incised  feathers makes this very post WW2 to me. 

Hey dpast32,   I have in the past been able to contact sellers on their items that didn't sell.  If I recall correctly, go to that item, Click on "See Original Listing" and then usually under the seller's name their is a "Contact Seller" link.  unless Ebay has changed their policy recently, that should work.  If that no longer works use the "Search" function on the home page and enter the seller's name.  They should popup with a "Contact Seller" link.  I just tried this "Search"  (use Advanced Search) option and gwhistorian's items popped right up.   Hope this helps.

I also started working on USN/AAF impression for PTO and usually there’s a lot of individual guys, it’s fairly niche but usually people who do it individually are more common  and would be happen to let you join them. That’s how it is here at least, full AAF groups are rare.

You've got some GOOD stuff there. I see some rare, short-lived and WW2 stateside units there. Some of them can be confusing, especially with renumbering and deactivation after WW2. (Same DUI and lineage; but different number.)
