Have you read the link I posted? It was created by the USAF and its the history of that unit. If anyone has the history of an Airforce unit, one would think it would be the Airforce. They seem to be very complete until the unit moves to Japan. Then poof! nothing....how do they not notice that?      I have been digging into the shoot downs. So lets go over that...some is known about the Russian shoot downs, not everything and nothing about the Chinese shoot downs. I have only found one site that reviewed the 2nd Taiwan incident in 1958 that mentions USAF/China air contact, but gives no details.       So, lets go over the part about no war at that time. May I suggest reading what President Eisenhower was considering in reguard's to the 2nd Taiwan incident in 1958? Churchill advised Eisenhower to take nukes off the table so Eiesenhower sent the 7th fleet with two carriers and a butt load of Airforce aircraft to Taiwan.      The 45th Tac Recon was the only Tac Recon operating in the Pacific at that time. They had U2's in Atsugi, but I have seen nothing that links Atsugi to the 2nd Taiwan incident, but the site that mentions contact between USAF and Chinese aircraft also mentions Tac Air patrols finding an airbase 40 miles inland from Taiwan.        May I suggest a read over of that area at that time, nothing about it was cold.

I think you're right about at least some section of the community, collectors or otherwise, adopting things that are other than official.

Sgt Edmund F. Carroll displays American Red Cross foodstuffs which were found in a civilian German home. The house was used as headquarters of the Signal Company. (End of April 1945 in Germany)

True. The Hahn wing doesn’t have the CAA-WTS on the rim. But that makes sense if the Hahn wing was from 1940 (prior to the entry of the US into the war) and the formation of the War Training Service.   the other wings include CAA-WTS so they would have been made no earlier than 1942

Please keep the original ribbon on it, a very nice find and one I’d be very happy with. May your luck continue, stuff really is still out there floating about.
