I actually read that thread and that’s what I was wondering.  Less roots to cut through wish sandy environments. 

I'm beginning to lean towards the rounded edge spades being a PTO Marine modification. ETO Airborne spades were not rounded. See my two examples.    Two reasons for this are that the rounded spade examples are often painted Marine Green, sometimes referred to as Forest Green and the rounded spade has been suggested to be better suited for digging in sand.    

Can anyone help me date these og-107 pants. Trying to put together a late 1950's early 1960 lrrp uniform. Did a search and nothing came up.Thanks 

Hello.  I picked these up and they don’t have any makers marks, but have the name of a pilot from there area I found them.   I’m not familiar with wings without makers marks.  Thanks      

Hi everyone. I’ve been trying to do some research on my grandfather’s service. To set the context. My grandfather was drafted into the U.S. Army from early 1961 to early 1963. He was stationed stateside at Fort Sill, and I’m trying to put a set of web gear together in memory of him. He was a sentry guard during the Cuban missile crisis, and I inherited his old pistol belt, here’s the kicker. The belt is an m1956 belt, with a painted black leather holster, attached with an m1910 hooks. I have pictures of him and his buddies with m1936 pistol belts and the older Korean War gear. I’d like to create an accurate webgear set and I’m thinking of just making everything with the type 1 m1956 gear. I’ve seen pictures with soldiers in Berlin in 61 outfitted with mostly m1956 gear, but when did stateside units start to get m1956 gear issued to troops stateside? 

This is one of the best shows in the country if you collect US insignia. In my opinion it rivals and in many ways is better than the SOS.  Practically all the top dealers in the country that are known for insignia especially patchess are in attendance with quality items that you can spend years trying to obtain. Much easier on your feet than SOS and the venue itself is a museum.
