When I went down the rabbit hole on this, I was surprised by the production history on these. Back in the old days a lot of guys had those Rambo style commercial knives. I never really got into those. This on the other hand is real deal and functional. I like it!

Good luck with that! Replenishing  the pockets with the missing items is going to cost you a pretty penny.

I think you just answered your question. It looks to be the difference in command between the 1st and 2nd Marines.

Bonjour.   In the 1970s, we had this type of equipment in the engineer regiments. I still remember very well the hours spent working with the jackhammer! sol.

This is just not true. Online websites state they still exist, and I know a man who has spend many years going through archives and documenting them.

. Hi flibble   Well these photos worked out very well, thanks for sharing with us . . . . . . . nice to see what's happening out there in other places.    Why hasn't mikie added any more great jokes about photography ? He hasn't developed any presently .   Norman D. Landing, Forum Normandy Correspondent, May 12 2O25.    ….

It turned out to be a bit of a challenge to develop the Pack Film. It's slightly larger than regular 4x5" sheet film so it wouldn't fit into the specific developing tank for it I have. There were light leaks, scratches, finger prints, "Nightmare lines" and lots of dust.  BUT!!! I managed to get something usable out of all 16 images in the pack.       You can see the rest of the set (shots from a wartime Leica camera) here: https://www.flibweb.nl/flibweb/cpg154/thumbnails.php?album=351   As for all the photography related puns....... GROAN!!! 😆 "I take people into dark rooms, cut off their heads and blow them up"
