Exceedingly interesting topic and research. I've never heard of them but am intrigued...are these readily on the auction market possibly from family estates? I'm under the impression after reading through your site that the mint is close hold on info and quantity etc for these...looking forward to more information as you develop the research and library

I believe I know the site you speak of. I’m not saying it didn’t happen but I don’t know of any known examples 

I think the numbered stars on the white  card are Boy Scout longevity stars (don't remember what they were actually called).

Hello all,   My wife’s Aunt gave me her Uncle’s USMC Dress Blues uniform and paper work today. He was in service from 1948-1950, re enlisted in 1950 till 1954. I have copies of his DD214 as well. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Medal, but one of  his certificates says WW2 on it. Can anyone tell me why? Just curious if he would have or should have been awarded the victory medal also. Well, here are some pics.

Recently bought an original Boyt '42 M1928 Haversack for reenactment use.   Haversack itself is in decent condition, but I've noticed a few stains on the pack. They look like rust stains, but not quite sure. A bit of research also reveals that some haversacks had brass-type buckles and clips. I know brass doesn't rust, but I'm still wanting to learn how to clean and maintain them (if possible). In addition to cleaning those aforementioned stains.   I've done a bit of google research already, but with so many opinions out there I'd like to narrow down some solutions directly from the reenactment community. Any help would be appreciated.

Found these today at an antique store.  They weren't together. My grandad was in China, and this seemed like a nice patch.   Thought the plane snapshot was cool.  Once I scanned it in and did some research, I believe it is the California Clipper aka "Pacific Clipper" that flew around the world in Dec 1941-Jan 1942.   Not bad for $22 on a Saturday afternoon :)

I was recently looking through one of my favorite dealers' offerings, and I came across an M1 with "spot camo" painted directly on the helmet shell. Was this a thing during the war? To paint the steel shell with camouflage or artwork? I know units such as the ARVN rangers famously had helmets painted with panther faces and camo, but what about US units? Did any of them do something similar, or was this unheard of?
