And just a footnote to your outstanding description,  the example that I purchased from Adam included its original case like the one pictured in John and Allen's book.  In fact, while I didn't see an attribution for that photo, I believe it might be the medal and case I purchased from Adam, that he would have photographed.   Like the auction example, mine is not hallmarked, at least not on the edge or anywhere else I've found.  My medal came with a ribbon drape similar to the original Deweys.   Adam told me that he had acquired both from a collector/dealer also well known and 100% reputable for authenticity to anyone collecting over the past 40 years.    Quare:  1) if the medal was to be scrapped, why did Tiffany quality control, which we assume is tremendous, go to the bother and expense of attaching a chain and brooch;  and 2)  boxes are scarcer than medals, as any collector knows.  for obvious durability issues.    They get tossed, lost, crushed, or wear out.   So if mine where destined for the scrap heap rather than delivery to a customer,  to end up with an authentic case,  we'd have to assume someone was able to get a medal diverted from scrapping and happened to have a spare case that lacked a medal, and then sold them to a reputable dealer.    Maybe, maybe not.    Point I'm trying to make, is that absent a declaration or other evidence on the scrapping issue from Tiffany,  or that all Till medals were hallmarked (be great to hear from a documented original owner, if any still alive), I wouldn't stake my eye-teeth that either medal was bound for the scrap-heap, or that the original issue Till medals all had hallmarks.    I don't know.   But under any possible alternative on the hallmark and scrapping  issues,  I'm glad to have my Till Dewey and an original case.  The tell-tale die crack "fingerprint" and the hallmark or no hallmark theories, just make it more interesting for me.

That is a neat bit of kit!  Young Robert must have lost (likely more than once) his wings for him to make it a priority to have this safety mechanism installed.   Warm regards!   Chris

The antenna brackets and straps were some of the hardest parts for me to find.  I finally found a radio collector here in the US who was refurbishing the brackets and making new straps and LTD fasteners to go with them.  He informed me that I was lucky and got the last set that he had.  Until I found them, I was very seriously considering reproducing them - brackets and straps - myself. I might suggest making an account on G503 Military Vehicle Forums ( G503 Forums ).  There's a "Radios and Communications" subforum that's excellent.  I have found a number of really helpful and generous collectors there who have helped me with a number of my own projects.  That forum was where I found my antenna brackets and straps. The SCR-609 / 610 are very well represented on the "Gee" forums.  The sets are highly collectable by vehicle restorers, both in the US and abroad.  Perhaps not surprising, many of the best sources for parts and components are the collectors in the EU.

Thanks for banning him, yes I am half Russian and half Ukrainian. Besides Russian I also know Ukrainian. I used to live in Ukraine. How he could understand this I do not quite understand.

Greetings!   Generally a nice collection.  Most are good pieces.  A few need more scrutiny.  Some are questionable at best.     The good:   - The larger wing devices (both bronze and gold) with smaller-sized propellers are post 1923 - Gilt wing devices with larger propellor are from the 1919-1923 era. - The cigarette case is likely from the 1930s (due to the style of wing) - Among the large propellor, bronze officer collar wing devices, I can see nice examples of Shreeve, Link, BB&B, and two French-made versions - The signal corps with wing (no globe), unofficial aviation cadet insignia all look good   The bad:   - I can not give my personal endorsement to the supposed balloon collar insignia (FWIW).   Need a second look:   The hat badge and winged globes (officer's insignia & enlisted collar disk) need more scrutiny.  These items have been re-struck, and many "new" examples have been around for decades making them appear old -- construction details matter.  Would need good photos of the fronts and backs of those to make a certain call.   Warm regards!   Chris
