Hi, this is a weird one and it might just be me losing it in my old age but on this Victory Task Force patch in my collection there appears to be a white layer of something peeking out the edge of the patch on the reverse ?  It doesn't seem to be the base tan material.  I've also seen it sometimes on 101st Airborne patches on websites as well ?  Any ideas what it is as the patches appear to be WWII/Korea period ?

Appears to be a British Battledress jacket. Not uncommon for US and Allied Soldiers to purchase or obtain uniforms from other countries for wear. I have a few ETO uniforms to 8th Air Force members who opted for the British battledress jackets.   There may be a label in the pocket (s)   Nothing really indicates "Flying Tigers" as the 14th Air Force used the same patch when the AVG was disbanded. Unless you can attribute the name to the Flying Tigers...   A rather sloppy job of sewing the 14th Air Force patch on the coat.   The Bullion CBI insignia is very nice.   Leigh  

While its design does use a flying tiger, that's a 14th Air Force  shoulder sleeve insignia.

Picked this up this morning at an estate sale with piles and piles of moth-eaten uniforms and hats. Has a bullion CBI and Flying Tigers patches. I don't know enough about uniforms to identify the jacket. Is it something that's been shortened? Has snaps at the corners of the pockets and on the belt end that make me think it has been tailored. Possible name written on the lining looks like "CRITES". 

Anyone know what this vest is?   It's an odd one. The tag says "this vest provides protection equal to that of the heavier standard 12-ply nylon Body Armor, fragmentation protective vest with 3/4 collar"   Lower on the tag is says: “Body Armor, Lightweight, Fragmentation Protective Vest with 3/4 Collar M-71 N” There is a spot for manufacturer and contract number on the tag, both are blank.   M-71 N isn't a model I've ever heard of.    Is this some sort of Post-M69 but Pre-PASGT item?
