Aloha Chris,   This is exactly why I love your in depth view on all my posts that you've chimed in on.  The shenanigans  of the past and those that participated in them is generally unknown with the exceptions of the noted observations reported here and they are excellent  works of reference.    I'm certain Marty was extremely excited during his gathering days by adding the latest and greatest acquisitions to his collection.  Unfortunately, and like all of us, he was taken advantage every once in awhile  unknowingly.  He wasn't kin on adding reproductions to the collection at all and I got assume that he believed what he got was the real deal.  The good thing is that he wasn't taken to the cleaners  on majority of his collection since he was a seasoned collector.   I really appreciate your stance on the balloon anomaly, too!  I notice the very same details that you pointed out and just figured that it was creative doughboy ingenuity to fill in someone whim "Overthere". Now it will remain in limbo until its true origin surface and will either sink or float this duck.   Thanks for all you do for us here at the forum.   John

I would like to see that if you have any pics to share. We have a 1917 Model T Ambulance that we restored just prior to covid.      Scott

Not  stepping on your thread, but I picked up a Model T trailer/cart that had been converted to a goat drawn cart complete with whiple trees. I have the bones and I'm looking doing at the same things your doing. Fun stuff! An old man found it as a boy in the mountains in the 1960's. It took him and his brother two days to pull it out and get it home.

Continuation:   Regarding the Oregon State Guard qualification badge above, to my knowledge there are only Two (2) Q-bars for the badge, the two that are shown.   Ed.

Just caught this posting.  This is my small collection of related items.  I am missing a couple of the older shoulder patches and the colored "SDF" tab worn below the state HQ's patch.  I find the qualification badge that dates @ WW2 of interest, but have found little written reference about it.    There was a book project taken on and published @ 2001/2002 in a limited run pertaining to the history of the ORNGR & ORSDF.  I included a photo of the cover, credits page & SSI reference page.     Added info on Lamarhooten's patch pics, the 3 similar ones; showing the state capitol & beaver having "OMA, SDF & RES,"  the "OMA" actually is for Oregon Military Academy.   On my pic showing the collar brass, it should be noted that the "US" has "ORE" (and not "OR") on top of the "US.  To my knowledge new bras was never acquired and the old stocks were of brass were used.   The ORSDF was deactivated somewhere @ 2012 by the Oregon Govenor.  Both the ORNGR & ORSDF were totally made up of volunteers a good percentage of prior service, military retired & some typical civilians, with maybe a handful of the hierarchy on the state payroll.   Also, the actual budget for either organization was typically non-existent.   I had retired from the regular Oregon Army National Guard in '94.  Following 9/11, I joined the ORSDF for about 5 years or so.  Held a position equivalent to a unit 1SG/Tng NCO.  The SDF is structured a bit differently than a typical Army National Guard unit.   Ed
