Your knife is a WWII Army general purpose pocket knife made by Kingston. It is a first version knife.  It is unusual in that it has USA marked on the blade.  The only Kingston knife that is marked like this, also has a clevis that is marked U.S.45 on one side, and KINGSTON on the other. Yours is unmarked.  Just one more variation that can be found.  The photo is of Cote du Poivere's blade. Marv

"Colt Canada " did not exist during the Vietnam war.   Diemaco, which also did not exist until 1974. It was bough by Colt in 2005 and renamed Colt Canada. It certainly did no produce the M16 during the Vietnam war thought it did later produce the C7 and C8 rifles under license from Colt.  SARCO produced the M60 during the war.

It is good but should be in a leather sheath.

I didn’t think the tab went with the 101st anyways. It looked short but it was the only one he had. So what you’re saying is I need to buy another 101st SSI that is correct?

No they weren’t advertised as being worn on dday. Was told all SSI except 101st was uniform removed

That's a great heirloom.  Schrade is a little less common than Camillus. Very nice. Marv

Some interesting headgear there. I’m sure they are all regulation but whose regulations?  mikie

I have #7742. The Marines often removed the front sight protector ears and filed a "V" notch on the rear sight for better sight picture when shooting at night. A much better rifle than an M1 when you really compare and fire to two. I have entered matches with mine and there is quite a noticeable muzzle blast compared to the M1 rifle, and the other shooters would get annoyed and request that I move to the end of the firing line as it was distracting them and messing up their shooting abilities. I stayed put and took second place. SSG Mac
