K: Yes, in my opinion you should just carefully open it and then you and any buyer will know exactly what is inside. Otherwise, you will have to look for a gambler willing to pay what you think is the full freight price. That is certainly possible, of course, but in my experience most collectors are not eager to bet big dollars on Door Number 3. I don't remember ever seeing one in an unopened box. No, this aircraft passed through various private owners after the war and I was involved with the plane when it was called the "Spirit of Benovia". It is now called "Spirit of Douglas". -

McCord fixed bales went up i to the 700s (heat stamp). I agree, it looks like it got an overpaint at some point. -
